Ravi had finally mentioned his relationship with Ella in his last phone call to his parents and informed them that he will be bringing her along when he comes from US on August 22nd.
As the plane came to a halt at Gate 21 of Anna International Terminal, Ravi’s heart raced so fast that he kept checking every few seconds to see if Ella had worn her saree correctly, placed her bindi in the correct position and tied her hair with a clip.
Even as he was waiting at the Immigration counter, his mind kept going to his orthodox, traditional parents and whether they would accept Ella into their family.
As he came out to the Arrivals terminal, a wide grin spread on his face as he spotted his dad waiting with a garland, wearing shorts and t-shirt, and his shy mom sporting a jeans and formal shirt.
“You Madras guys rock at making anyone feel at home!!”, he heard Ella say as she laughed and hugged his shy mother.
This post is for Five Sentence Fiction word – Waiting – and my lil tribute to Madras day! Rock on Madras!
